Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 22 June 2025 | Last Updated: 22 June 2025
1. Introduction
SAFE HOME SOLUTIONS INVESTIGATION INC., doing business as ForensicsS ("ForensicsS," "we," "us," or "our") values your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard data when you visit forensicss.com (the "Site") or engage our investigative, cybersecurity, digital‑forensic, or background‑check services (collectively, the "Services"). This Policy applies to all Site visitors, clients, prospective clients, and any other individuals whose information we process.
By accessing the Site, submitting information, or using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and agree to its terms. If you do not agree, do not access the Site and do not provide personal information.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in three primary ways:
- Information you provide directly – e.g., when you submit a contact form, request a quote, upload files for analysis, or sign an engagement agreement.
- Information we collect automatically – via cookies, server logs, HTML5 Geolocation, and IP‑based enrichment using the MaxMind GeoIP2 database.
- Information from third parties – such as payment processors (e.g., Stripe), public databases, court records, open‑source intelligence platforms, or government agencies.
The categories of data we may process include, but are not limited to:
- Identifiers: name, alias, postal address, email address, phone number, online identifiers, account usernames
- Government IDs: driver’s license, passport number, or other ID necessary for legally‑mandated due diligence
- Commercial information: billing address, transaction history, retainer details, dispute records
- Internet & network activity: IP address, device type, browser version, referring URL, pages viewed, session timestamps
- Precise geolocation: GPS coordinates collected with your browser’s
navigator.geolocation
API (only after explicit consent) and approximate geolocation inferred from your IP address via MaxMind GeoIP2 - Professional or employment‑related data and educational history when necessary for background screenings
- Forensic evidence: disk images, log files, chat transcripts, metadata, or other digital artifacts you voluntarily supply
3. Why We Collect Your Information
We process personal data for legitimate business purposes, including:
- Contractual necessity – to draft proposals, enter engagement agreements, perform investigations, supply reports, verify identity, and collect payment.
- Fraud & chargeback prevention – using MaxMind GeoIP2 and browser GPS to confirm transaction integrity, detect spoofing, and document location evidence when disputes arise.
- Regulatory compliance – to satisfy anti‑money‑laundering (AML), know‑your‑customer (KYC), or court‑ordered obligations.
- Site performance & analytics – to monitor traffic patterns, diagnose server issues, and improve user experience.
- Marketing (minimal) – to send occasional service updates or threat‑intel advisories, subject to opt‑out.
- Legal defense – to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims and protect our rights, property, or safety.
4. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you reside in the European Economic Area ("EEA") or United Kingdom, our legal bases for processing your data are:
- Performance of a contract – processing is necessary to fulfill an agreement with you.
- Legitimate interests – e.g., fraud prevention, IT security, business analytics, and direct communication with corporate clients, unless those interests are overridden by your fundamental rights.
- Consent – for optional GPS collection, marketing emails, or where otherwise required.
- Legal obligation – to comply with applicable laws, subpoenas, or court orders.
5. Cookies & Similar Technologies
We use first‑party and limited third‑party cookies to:
- Maintain session integrity
- Remember user preferences
- Conduct aggregate site analytics (non‑personally identifiable)
You can control or delete cookies at any time via browser settings. Disabling cookies may impact Site functionality.
6. MaxMind GeoIP2 & Browser Geolocation
For fraud‑screening purposes, we combine two geolocation methods:
- IP‑Based Geolocation – When you visit the Site, your IP address is queried against MaxMind’s GeoIP2 database to estimate city, region, country, and ISP. This information helps us decide whether to allow, flag, or block suspicious traffic. IP data is logged with a timestamp and hashed device identifiers for up to two (2) years.
- GPS Coordinates – If you opt in (via your browser’s permission prompt), we capture latitude/longitude from the HTML5 Geolocation API. These coordinates are stored with order metadata strictly for fraud evidence and are never used for marketing. You can decline or revoke GPS sharing at any time. Denying geolocation may limit our ability to accept high‑risk transactions.
Both data types are encrypted at rest and accessible only to vetted fraud‑prevention staff.
7. How We Share Information
We do not sell or rent personal data. We may share information only:
- With payment processors (Stripe, PayPal) to complete transactions and mitigate fraud.
- With law enforcement or regulatory bodies when legally compelled.
- With expert subcontractors under NDA who assist in fulfilling Services (e.g., advanced lab partners, specialized linguists).
- With analytics vendors who provide anonymized or aggregated insights (no precise location data shared).
- In connection with a business transfer, acquisition, or merger, subject to confidentiality.
8. Data Retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes stated above or as required by law. Typical retention periods:
Data Category | Retention Period |
---|---|
Client Account & Billing Records | 7 years (tax & accounting) |
Raw Forensic Images | 1 year (extendable upon request) |
IP & GeoIP Logs | 2 years |
GPS Coordinates | 2 years or until chargeback window closes, whichever is later |
Email Marketing Preferences | Until opt‑out |
9. Data Security
We employ administrative, technical, and physical safeguards such as:
- TLS 1.3 encryption for data in transit
- AES‑256 encryption at rest
- Multi‑factor authentication (MFA) for internal systems
- Role‑based access controls (RBAC)
- Continuous vulnerability scanning and annual penetration tests
- Employee background checks and security awareness training
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take commercially reasonable measures to protect your data.
